Vintage Americana is making a huge comeback in mainstream media thanks to artists like Lana Del Rey, and these Paul Vayanos photographs depict objects and landmarks associated with the United States’ cultural heritage. There was a time when rugged cars, mailboxes and desert scenery were a part of the American way of life, and these mesmerizing still frames encapsulate those things in such a glorified way that viewers can’t help but wish they lived several decades in the past.
The Paul Vayanos photo series is entitled ‘Lost In America,’ and it also features abandoned farmhouses, pioneer wagons and orchards. Surprisingly, Vayanos is actually a resident of Melbourne, Australia, meaning he took these photos while visiting the States. Though he forewent popular landmarks, this collection of images actually does a great job of representing romanticized American culture.
